Metal caster — Westchester County

Vacancy available: we are hiring a metal caster in Westchester County, New York. You will work in the melting bay of a steel foundry. On a typical shift you will fettle and grind castings to remove flash and rough edges; apply mould coatings and dress the mould cavity; operate the sand muller and the reclamation plant; melt scrap metal and ingots in induction or cupola furnaces; inspect castings for cold shuts, blowholes and shrinkage defects; cut off risers, runners and gates with a grinder or torch. You should have: • Able to read simple casting drawings and job cards • Understanding of safe slinging and crane-ladle signalling • Basic grinding and fettling skills Performance bonus on top of base pay.
