Mining dozer operator — City of Roanoke

Immediate opening: we are hiring a mining dozer operator in City of Roanoke, Virginia. You will be based on a dam or embankment job. Day to day you will clear land of trees, stumps and debris before earthworks begin; rip hard ground and rock using the rear ripper shank; maintain haul roads and keep drainage falls clear; work to the dig plan and the banksman's signals; grease pins and bushes and check undercarriage tension daily. Ideal candidate: • Familiar with GPS and laser machine-control systems • Good understanding of cut-and-fill and batter slopes • Willing to work on remote sites and rotating rosters Freshers welcome — about 2 years of practice is enough.
