Day to day you will back-purge stainless pipe to stop root oxidation (sugaring); inspect welds for porosity, undercut and lack of fusion; clean the base metal with a stainless brush and acetone before welding; select the tungsten type and gas cup size to suit the job; feed the filler rod by hand while controlling the weld puddle.
