Now hiring: we are hiring a furnace operator in Nelson County, Virginia. You should have: • Knowledge of green-sand and resin-bonded moulding • Keen eye for casting defects during inspection You will maintain crucibles, ladles and furnace linings; carry out shakeout and knock the castings out of the sand; tap the furnace and transfer the metal to the ladle; shot-blast castings to clean off burnt sand and scale; assemble cope and drag mould halves and clamp them together; skim slag and dross off the melt before tapping and pouring.
