Vacancy available: we are hiring a shakeout operator in Arenac County, Michigan. The role involves: • Pour molten metal into the moulds using hand or crane ladles • Maintain crucibles, ladles and furnace linings • Cut off risers, runners and gates with a grinder or torch • Assemble cope and drag mould halves and clamp them together • Shot-blast castings to clean off burnt sand and scale • Tap the furnace and transfer the metal to the ladle Ideal candidate: • Willing to wear full PPE such as heat-resistant apron, spats and visor • Keen eye for casting defects during inspection • Basic grinding and fettling skills 6+ years on the tools preferred.
