Foundry labourer • Gallatin County, Illinois

Now hiring: we are hiring a foundry labourer in Gallatin County, Illinois. The job is at a busy iron foundry. Day-to-day duties: • Melt scrap metal and ingots in induction or cupola furnaces • Shot-blast castings to clean off burnt sand and scale • Cut off risers, runners and gates with a grinder or torch • Inspect castings for cold shuts, blowholes and shrinkage defects • Prepare green-sand moulds and ram the sand into the moulding boxes • Pour molten metal into the moulds using hand or crane ladles You should have: • Willing to work in hot, dusty conditions and rotating shifts • Experience working in a ferrous or non-ferrous foundry • Understanding of safe slinging and crane-ladle signalling At least 6 year(s) in a similar role.
