Day to day you will fault-find control circuits with a multimeter and test instruments; service the traction motor, brake and gearbox; carry out planned preventive maintenance and grease the guide shoes; test buffers, final limit switches and the emergency brake; fill in the service logbook and statutory inspection paperwork.
