You should have: • Confident with manual handling and load securing • Valid digital tachograph card Day-to-day duties: • Reverse and carry out blind-side manoeuvres at loading bays • Keep a safe following distance, adjusting for weather and load • Plan routes and rest stops in line with driving-hours rules • Carry out daily walk-around vehicle checks before setting off • Secure loads with ratchet straps, chains and load bars • Operate tail-lifts and pump trucks during loading and unloading Freshers welcome — about 4 years of practice is enough.
