Day to day you will clean the base metal with a stainless brush and acetone before welding; carry out 6G pipe welds where required; set the amperage on the machine and modulate the current with the foot pedal; select the tungsten type and gas cup size to suit the job; back-purge stainless pipe to stop root oxidation (sugaring); control heat input so thin sheet does not warp. Ideal candidate: • Physically fit to work in confined spaces and at height • Sound knowledge of shielding gases and tungsten selection Freshers welcome — about 1 years of practice is enough.
