Now hiring: we are hiring a landscape gardener in Prince of Wales-Hyder Census Area, Alaska. The job is in a public park. Day-to-day duties: • Dig over and turn the soil and prepare seedbeds • Sharpen, clean and oil hand tools and mower blades • Repot nursery stock and pot on cuttings • Maintain compost heaps and the potting shed • Prune hedges, shrubs and ornamental trees with secateurs and hedge trimmers • Spray pesticides and fungicides to control pests and disease Ideal candidate: • Previous experience as a gardener or in grounds maintenance • Happy to work outdoors in all weather • Valid driving licence for travel between sites $130 per day, negotiable for the right hands.
