Shakeout operator — City and Borough of Wrangell

We are recruiting: we are hiring a shakeout operator in City and Borough of Wrangell, Alaska. The job is in the melting bay of a steel foundry. You should have: • Able to read simple casting drawings and job cards • Willing to work in hot, dusty conditions and rotating shifts • Basic grinding and fettling skills Day to day you will check melt temperature with a pyrometer before pouring; inspect castings for cold shuts, blowholes and shrinkage defects; apply mould coatings and dress the mould cavity; pour molten metal into the moulds using hand or crane ladles; maintain crucibles, ladles and furnace linings. At least 5 year(s) in a similar role. Six days a week, one day off. Walk-in interviews this week.
