Now hiring: we are hiring a gang bricklayer in Cattaraugus County, New York. You should have: • Sound knowledge of mortar mixes and bonds (stretcher, English, Flemish) • Physically fit for lifting bricks and blocks all day • Own trowel, spirit level and basic hand tools Day-to-day duties: • Building the corners (leads) first and racking back the courses • Installing damp-proof courses, lintels and cavity trays • Setting out walls from the drawings and marking the brick gauge • Erecting and working off trestles and scaffold lifts • Laying bricks to the line, level and plumb • Brushing the wall down and removing mortar snots as you go Freshers welcome — about 3 years of practice is enough. $5,200 per month, negotiable for the right hands.
