Day-to-day duties: • Set the amperage on the machine and modulate the current with the foot pedal • Control heat input so thin sheet does not warp • Weld in flat, horizontal, vertical and overhead positions • Inspect welds for porosity, undercut and lack of fusion • Grind and sharpen tungsten electrodes to the correct taper • Back-purge stainless pipe to stop root oxidation (sugaring) You should have: • Able to read isometric and fabrication drawings • Steady hands and good close-up eyesight Rotating shifts.
