The role involves hoist, slew and lower loads smoothly and under control; keep a safe distance from overhead power lines; work out the load weight and the lifting radius; fit the counterweights and check the ground bearing pressure; fill in the daily logbook and raise defect reports; rig and sling loads using slings, shackles and spreader beams.
