Your main tasks: • Clean and descale the iron soleplate and steam vents • Check every piece for scorch marks, shine and water spots • Set the iron temperature to suit cotton, silk, wool and synthetic fabrics • Press open seams, darts and pleats during stitching • Meet the daily piece target without damaging garments • Spray water or starch to set sharp creases on trousers and shirts Requirements: • Sound knowledge of fabric types and correct heat settings • Comfortable standing long shifts in a hot, humid environment Freshers welcome — about 4 years of practice is enough.
