What we are looking for: • Sound knowledge of argon gas settings and tungsten selection • Good eyesight for fine sheet-metal work Day to day you will run butt, fillet, lap and corner joints to spec; select AC for aluminium and DC for stainless and mild steel; inspect welds visually for porosity, cracks and undercut; read welding symbols and joint details off the fabrication drawing; keep the arc length and travel speed consistent; back-purge pipe joints with argon so the root does not oxidise.
