Port container crane operator • Leelanau County, Michigan

Immediate opening: we are hiring a port container crane operator in Leelanau County, Michigan. You will be based at a shipbuilding yard. On the job you will handle: • Set up the outriggers and level the crane on firm ground • Carry out pre-start checks on the crane, wire ropes and hook block • Work out the load weight and the lifting radius • Follow hand signals and radio calls from the banksman or slinger • Fit the counterweights and check the ground bearing pressure • Rig and sling loads using slings, shackles and spreader beams Ideal candidate: • A good head for heights for tower crane work • Sound knowledge of rigging and slinging $3,300 per month, negotiable for the right hands.
