Now hiring: we are hiring a foundry operative in Kaduna South, Kaduna State. The job is in the melting bay of a steel foundry. Day-to-day duties: • Make and bake sand cores for the internal cavities • Maintain crucibles, ladles and furnace linings • Mix and recondition moulding sand to the right moisture • Carry out shakeout and knock the castings out of the sand • Shot-blast castings to clean off burnt sand and scale • Prepare green-sand moulds and ram the sand into the moulding boxes What we are looking for: • Willing to work in hot, dusty conditions and rotating shifts • Able to read simple casting drawings and job cards • Keen eye for casting defects during inspection 3+ years on the tools preferred.
