We are recruiting: we are hiring a furnace operator in Oron, Akwa Ibom State. You will work in the melting bay of a steel foundry. What we are looking for: • Keen eye for casting defects during inspection • Willing to wear full PPE such as heat-resistant apron, spats and visor • Basic grinding and fettling skills The role involves: • Skim slag and dross off the melt before tapping and pouring • Maintain crucibles, ladles and furnace linings • Operate the sand muller and the reclamation plant • Inspect castings for cold shuts, blowholes and shrinkage defects • Apply mould coatings and dress the mould cavity • Tap the furnace and transfer the metal to the ladle Freshers welcome — about 3 years of practice is enough.
