Immediate opening: fettler (Idaho)

Join our team: we are hiring a fettler in Teton County, Idaho. You will work at a brass and bronze foundry. You should have: • Keen eye for casting defects during inspection • Willing to work in hot, dusty conditions and rotating shifts • Willing to wear full PPE such as heat-resistant apron, spats and visor The role involves: • Carry out shakeout and knock the castings out of the sand • Fettle and grind castings to remove flash and rough edges • Inspect castings for cold shuts, blowholes and shrinkage defects • Pour molten metal into the moulds using hand or crane ladles • Assemble cope and drag mould halves and clamp them together • Prepare green-sand moulds and ram the sand into the moulding boxes Freshers welcome — about 2 years of practice is enough. $4,100 per month, negotiable for the right hands.
