Great opportunity: we are hiring an abattoir worker in Ida County, Iowa. Requirements: • 2+ years experience working as a butcher • Comfortable working in cold rooms and chillers • Knowledge of halal slaughter and handling where required Day-to-day duties: • Stuff and link fresh sausages with casings • Run the band saw to cut cleanly through bone • Monitor chiller and freezer temperatures to keep the cold chain • Break down beef, mutton and chicken carcasses into primal cuts • Dress the chilled counter and rotate stock by date Freshers welcome — about 6 years of practice is enough.
