Vacancy available: we are hiring a ladle pourer in Mason County, Illinois. What we are looking for: • Comfortable working close to furnaces and molten metal • Knowledge of green-sand and resin-bonded moulding The role involves: • Check melt temperature with a pyrometer before pouring • Pour molten metal into the moulds using hand or crane ladles • Cut off risers, runners and gates with a grinder or torch • Inspect castings for cold shuts, blowholes and shrinkage defects • Skim slag and dross off the melt before tapping and pouring • Assemble cope and drag mould halves and clamp them together Freshers welcome — about 2 years of practice is enough. $16 per hour, negotiable for the right hands.
