Landscape gardener — City of Salem

Join our team: we are hiring a landscape gardener in City of Salem, Virginia. You will be based in a botanical garden. Day to day you will maintain compost heaps and the potting shed; prune hedges, shrubs and ornamental trees with secateurs and hedge trimmers; weed flower beds and borders by hand and with a hoe; check and adjust sprinkler timers and irrigation heads; spray pesticides and fungicides to control pests and disease; rake up fallen leaves, grass clippings and garden waste. Requirements: • Physically fit for bending, lifting and long hours outdoors • Valid driving licence for travel between sites • An eye for detail and a tidy, well-kept finish $5,400 per month, negotiable for the right hands.
