Requirements: • Good eyesight and steady hands for close-tolerance work • Experience on Fanuc/Siemens CNC controls • Safety conscious and comfortable wearing PPE around moving machinery Day to day you will apply cutting coolant and clear swarf from the machine bed; load and edit CNC programs (G-code) at the Fanuc/Siemens control; measure features with vernier callipers, micrometers and bore gauges; mount workpieces in machine vices, clamps and fixtures and check for square; set spindle speeds and feed rates to suit the material and cutter; monitor tool wear and change blunt inserts and cutters.
