Machinist wanted in Borough of Wigan

Vacancy available: we are hiring a machinist in Borough of Wigan, England. The job is on an export house sewing floor. The role involves change needles, presser feet and folders to suit the fabric and operation; set armholes and sleeves, easing the cap so there are no puckers; match notches and ply, lining up checks and stripes before stitching; sew bartacks and buttonholes and attach buttons where required; attach collars, cuffs, plackets, pockets and waistbands as per the spec sheet; topstitch and edge-stitch with the correct margin for a clean finish. You should have: • Understands fabric types and how to handle knits versus wovens • Knows how to set tension, change needles and do basic machine maintenance • Able to read a spec sheet and follow a sewing operation breakdown 2+ years on the tools preferred. £2,650 per month, negotiable for the right hands.
