The role involves inspect welds visually for porosity, cracks and undercut; back-purge pipe joints with argon so the root does not oxidise; set the argon flow on the flowmeter and check the hose for leaks; strike the arc with high-frequency start and control heat with the foot pedal. You should have: • ITI or trade certificate in welding an advantage • Aware of PPE, fume extraction and hot-work safety • Sound knowledge of argon gas settings and tungsten selection 2+ years on the tools preferred.
