Sheet metal welder • Borough of Wigan, England

Immediate opening: we are hiring a sheet metal welder in Borough of Wigan, England. You will work in a sheet-metal fabrication unit. Day-to-day duties: • Read welding symbols and joint details off the fabrication drawing • Back-purge pipe joints with argon so the root does not oxidise • Clamp and fit up components on the jig before welding • Clean joints with acetone and a dedicated stainless wire brush • Set the argon flow on the flowmeter and check the hose for leaks • Grind, blend and polish finished welds to a clean finish You should have: • Aware of PPE, fume extraction and hot-work safety • Can read fabrication drawings and welding symbols • Able to TIG weld stainless steel and aluminium to a neat standard At least 1 year(s) in a similar role. Performance bonus on top of base pay. Rotating shifts. Walk-in interviews this week.
