Foundry operative • Stirling, Scotland

Vacancy available: we are hiring a foundry operative in Stirling, Scotland. Day-to-day duties: • Assemble cope and drag mould halves and clamp them together • Melt scrap metal and ingots in induction or cupola furnaces • Maintain crucibles, ladles and furnace linings • Skim slag and dross off the melt before tapping and pouring • Inspect castings for cold shuts, blowholes and shrinkage defects What we are looking for: • Willing to work in hot, dusty conditions and rotating shifts • Basic grinding and fettling skills • Willing to wear full PPE such as heat-resistant apron, spats and visor Freshers welcome — about 3 years of practice is enough. £2,900 per month, negotiable for the right hands.
