Great opportunity: furnace operator (Scotland)

Join our team: we are hiring a furnace operator in Renfrewshire, Scotland. You will work at a brass and bronze foundry. What we are looking for: • Understanding of safe slinging and crane-ladle signalling • Willing to wear full PPE such as heat-resistant apron, spats and visor Your main tasks: • Assemble cope and drag mould halves and clamp them together • Fettle and grind castings to remove flash and rough edges • Melt scrap metal and ingots in induction or cupola furnaces • Apply mould coatings and dress the mould cavity • Inspect castings for cold shuts, blowholes and shrinkage defects • Skim slag and dross off the melt before tapping and pouring Freshers welcome — about 5 years of practice is enough. Part-time with flexible hours. Walk-in interviews this week.
