Ideal candidate: • Understanding of safe slinging and crane-ladle signalling • Comfortable working close to furnaces and molten metal • Able to read simple casting drawings and job cards Your main tasks: • Melt scrap metal and ingots in induction or cupola furnaces • Maintain crucibles, ladles and furnace linings • Skim slag and dross off the melt before tapping and pouring • Mix and recondition moulding sand to the right moisture • Cut off risers, runners and gates with a grinder or torch Freshers welcome — about 5 years of practice is enough.
