Now hiring: we are hiring a brick mason in Skagway Municipality, Alaska. You will be based on a commercial construction site. Ideal candidate: • Sound knowledge of mortar mixes and bonds (stretcher, English, Flemish) • Reliable timekeeping and able to hit daily brick targets • Proven experience laying facing and engineering bricks Your main tasks: • Erecting and working off trestles and scaffold lifts • Laying bricks to the line, level and plumb • Forming arches, piers and reveals around openings • Checking every course for height and level with a gauge rod • Buttering the perpends and tapping each brick down to the gauge • Brushing the wall down and removing mortar snots as you go 2+ years on the tools preferred. $3,400 per month, negotiable for the right hands.
