Great opportunity: we are hiring a core maker in Rockbridge County, Virginia. Day-to-day duties: • Inspect castings for cold shuts, blowholes and shrinkage defects • Assemble cope and drag mould halves and clamp them together • Carry out shakeout and knock the castings out of the sand • Check melt temperature with a pyrometer before pouring • Melt scrap metal and ingots in induction or cupola furnaces Ideal candidate: • Experience working in a ferrous or non-ferrous foundry • Willing to wear full PPE such as heat-resistant apron, spats and visor • Comfortable working close to furnaces and molten metal 5+ years on the tools preferred.
