Bar bender and fixer • City and Borough of Wakefield, England

Now hiring: we are hiring a bar bender and fixer in City and Borough of Wakefield, England. You will be based on a busy residential building site. The role involves: • Fix cover blocks and spacers to maintain concrete cover • Assemble column and beam cages on the bench • Set out starter bars and column dowels for the next lift • Lift and land prefabricated cages with the crane and banksman • Tie bar intersections with binding wire using a tie hook or pliers • Check bar diameter, spacing and cover before the pour Requirements: • Proven experience as a steel fixer on building or civil sites • Sound knowledge of lap lengths, cover and bar spacing • Own basic tools such as pliers, tie hook, tape and level Six days a week, one day off.
