Foundry operative — Knox County

Vacancy available: we are hiring a foundry operative in Knox County, Maine. You will work at an aluminium die-casting plant. Ideal candidate: • Able to read simple casting drawings and job cards • Keen eye for casting defects during inspection • Willing to wear full PPE such as heat-resistant apron, spats and visor The role involves: • Apply mould coatings and dress the mould cavity • Melt scrap metal and ingots in induction or cupola furnaces • Fettle and grind castings to remove flash and rough edges • Inspect castings for cold shuts, blowholes and shrinkage defects • Cut off risers, runners and gates with a grinder or torch Rotating shifts.
