Banksman — Acadia Parish

Great opportunity: we are hiring a banksman in Acadia Parish, Louisiana. You will be based at a shipyard. On the job you will handle: • Inspect slings, shackles and eyebolts for wear, kinks and cracks before each use • Calculate load weight and centre of gravity before every lift • Fit tag lines to control and steady suspended loads • Attach wire rope and chain slings to loads using shackles and hooks • Direct the crane operator with standard hand signals and radio You should have: • Sound knowledge of working load limits and sling angles • Comfortable working at height and in confined spaces Freshers welcome — about 6 years of practice is enough. $20 per hour, negotiable for the right hands.
