Ideal candidate: • Able to pass a 3G/4G plate test • ITI in welder trade or equivalent • Willing to work shifts and overtime The role involves: • Maintain the torch liner, earth clamp and gas hose • Bevel and grind the joint edges clean before welding • Grind back and re-weld any defective runs • Set the shielding-gas flow on the CO2/argon-mix regulator • Check welds for porosity, undercut and lack of penetration • Set the wire feed speed and voltage to suit the plate thickness Freshers welcome — about 1 years of practice is enough.
