Garment machinist • Essex County, New Jersey

Great opportunity: we are hiring a garment machinist in Essex County, New Jersey. You will be based in a small denim manufacturing unit. What we are looking for: • Understands fabric types and how to handle knits versus wovens • Able to read a spec sheet and follow a sewing operation breakdown The role involves attach collars, cuffs, plackets, pockets and waistbands as per the spec sheet; keep an even stitch density (SPI) and a straight, consistent seam line; match notches and ply, lining up checks and stripes before stitching; set armholes and sleeves, easing the cap so there are no puckers; topstitch and edge-stitch with the correct margin for a clean finish; sew bartacks and buttonholes and attach buttons where required. $4,100 per month, negotiable for the right hands. Rotating shifts. Walk-in interviews this week.
