The role involves establish exclusion zones and keep workers clear of the lift area; secure loads with turnbuckles, chain blocks and lever hoists; coordinate tandem and multi-crane lifts with the signaller; fit tag lines to control and steady suspended loads; direct the crane operator with standard hand signals and radio; tag and quarantine any damaged or out-of-date rigging gear. You should have: • Valid rigging / lifting certificate or banksman-slinger ticket • Able to inspect and reject defective lifting gear • Sound knowledge of working load limits and sling angles Freshers welcome — about 6 years of practice is enough.
