On a typical shift you will replace shock absorbers, ball joints and track-rod ends; road-test vehicles to confirm the repair; replace clutch plates and gearbox components; read fault codes and clear them after the repair; estimate repair costs and order the right parts; diagnose engine faults using an OBD-II scan tool. You should have: • Own set of hand tools • Able to read wiring diagrams and workshop manuals • Confident using diagnostic scan tools Freshers welcome — about 6 years of practice is enough.
