Occupational health and safety officer — City of Lynchburg

Urgent requirement: we are hiring an occupational health and safety officer in City of Lynchburg, Virginia. Day-to-day duties: • Audit housekeeping and barricading around excavations and open edges • Verify lifting gear, slings, shackles and crane test certificates • Check PPE such as helmets, goggles, gloves and ear plugs and issue replacements • Run fire drills and check extinguishers, hydrants and alarm points • Take gas readings with a multi-gas detector before confined-space entry • Stop unsafe work and brief the supervisor on corrective action What we are looking for: • NEBOSH, IOSH or a recognised OHS certificate • Strong record-keeping and incident-reporting skills 5+ years on the tools preferred. Six days a week, one day off. A stable, long-term role with a friendly crew. Walk-in interviews this week.
