Reinforcement steel fixer — City of Harrisonburg

Now hiring: we are hiring a reinforcement steel fixer in City of Harrisonburg, Virginia. You will work at a rebar fabrication workshop. The role involves: • Install chairs and bar supports to hold up the top mat • Tie bar intersections with binding wire using a tie hook or pliers • Assemble column and beam cages on the bench • Lap and splice bars to the specified lap length • Set out starter bars and column dowels for the next lift • Lay and tie mesh for slabs and ground-bearing floors You should have: • Proven experience as a steel fixer on building or civil sites • Sound knowledge of lap lengths, cover and bar spacing • Valid site safety card and PPE (helmet, boots, gloves) Part-time with flexible hours.
