Now hiring: we are hiring a shakeout operator in Mills County, Iowa. You will work at an aluminium die-casting plant. The role involves cut off risers, runners and gates with a grinder or torch; tap the furnace and transfer the metal to the ladle; carry out shakeout and knock the castings out of the sand; shot-blast castings to clean off burnt sand and scale. Ideal candidate: • Keen eye for casting defects during inspection • Knowledge of green-sand and resin-bonded moulding • Willing to work in hot, dusty conditions and rotating shifts Freshers welcome — about 6 years of practice is enough.
