Immediate opening: we are hiring a steel erection rigger in City of Portsmouth, Virginia. What we are looking for: • Ability to read lift plans and rigging diagrams • Proven experience as a rigger on construction or industrial sites • Willing to work shifts, weekends and outdoors in all weather Your main tasks: • Secure loads with turnbuckles, chain blocks and lever hoists • Direct the crane operator with standard hand signals and radio • Tag and quarantine any damaged or out-of-date rigging gear • Guide loads through tight openings into their final position • Coordinate tandem and multi-crane lifts with the signaller • Calculate load weight and centre of gravity before every lift Freshers welcome — about 3 years of practice is enough.
