Immediate opening: furnace operator (Wales)

Immediate opening: we are hiring a furnace operator in Vale of Glamorgan, Wales. On the job you will handle: • Mix and recondition moulding sand to the right moisture • Skim slag and dross off the melt before tapping and pouring • Inspect castings for cold shuts, blowholes and shrinkage defects • Shot-blast castings to clean off burnt sand and scale • Pour molten metal into the moulds using hand or crane ladles Ideal candidate: • Basic grinding and fettling skills • Understanding of safe slinging and crane-ladle signalling • Able to read simple casting drawings and job cards 4+ years on the tools preferred.
