Immediate opening: we are hiring a blocklayer in Isles of Scilly, England. The role involves: • Buttering the perpends and tapping each brick down to the gauge • Forming arches, piers and reveals around openings • Pointing and repointing weathered mortar joints • Cutting bricks to size with a bolster and club hammer or angle grinder • Raking out and tooling the joints to a struck or bucket-handle finish • Mixing mortar to the right consistency with sand, cement and plasticiser What we are looking for: • Proven experience laying facing and engineering bricks • Physically fit for lifting bricks and blocks all day • Comfortable working at height on scaffolding A stable, long-term role with a friendly crew.
