What we are looking for: • Comfortable working close to furnaces and molten metal • Willing to wear full PPE such as heat-resistant apron, spats and visor • Understanding of safe slinging and crane-ladle signalling Day-to-day duties: • Check melt temperature with a pyrometer before pouring • Tap the furnace and transfer the metal to the ladle • Make and bake sand cores for the internal cavities • Carry out shakeout and knock the castings out of the sand • Skim slag and dross off the melt before tapping and pouring • Mix and recondition moulding sand to the right moisture Freshers welcome — about 6 years of practice is enough. $5,300 per month, negotiable for the right hands.
