Occupational health and safety officer — Gonzales County

Now hiring: we are hiring an occupational health and safety officer in Gonzales County, Texas. You will be based in a chemical processing unit. Ideal candidate: • Valid first aid and basic firefighting training • NEBOSH, IOSH or a recognised OHS certificate • Physically fit for full-site inspections on foot Your main tasks: • Check PPE such as helmets, goggles, gloves and ear plugs and issue replacements • Investigate near-misses and incidents and file root-cause reports • Run fire drills and check extinguishers, hydrants and alarm points • Stop unsafe work and brief the supervisor on corrective action • Audit housekeeping and barricading around excavations and open edges • Verify lifting gear, slings, shackles and crane test certificates 2+ years on the tools preferred. Full-time, day shift. $26 per hour, negotiable for the right hands. Walk-in interviews this week.
