Join our team: we are hiring a sand plant operator in Castro County, Texas. You will be based in a non-ferrous casting shop. Day-to-day duties: • Melt scrap metal and ingots in induction or cupola furnaces • Pour molten metal into the moulds using hand or crane ladles • Prepare green-sand moulds and ram the sand into the moulding boxes • Check melt temperature with a pyrometer before pouring • Cut off risers, runners and gates with a grinder or torch • Inspect castings for cold shuts, blowholes and shrinkage defects Requirements: • Physically fit to lift heavy moulding boxes and castings • Willing to wear full PPE such as heat-resistant apron, spats and visor At least 2 year(s) in a similar role.
