Brick and block layer • Gateshead, England

Great opportunity: we are hiring a brick and block layer in Gateshead, England. You will work on a busy housing site. Your main tasks: • Building the corners (leads) first and racking back the courses • Cutting bricks to size with a bolster and club hammer or angle grinder • Bedding in air bricks, weep holes and wall starters • Brushing the wall down and removing mortar snots as you go • Spreading and furrowing mortar beds with the trowel Ideal candidate: • Own trowel, spirit level and basic hand tools • Physically fit for lifting bricks and blocks all day • Sound knowledge of mortar mixes and bonds (stretcher, English, Flemish) 3+ years on the tools preferred.
