Urgent requirement: we are hiring an abattoir worker in Grayson County, Virginia. The job is at a halal meat counter. You will break down beef, mutton and chicken carcasses into primal cuts; take customer orders and advise on cuts and cooking; keep halal cuts separated and clearly handled; trim fat, sinew and silver skin off the cuts; monitor chiller and freezer temperatures to keep the cold chain; keep HACCP hygiene records and sanitise the block and tools. Requirements: • Knowledge of halal slaughter and handling where required • 2+ years experience working as a butcher • Confident knife skills and safe blade handling 1+ years on the tools preferred.
